私が今夢中になっていることは、「インターネット」です。インターネットというのは、パソコンを通じて、世界中の人とお友達になれる、最高の場所だと私は思います。

今年の1月、私の家に初めてimacがやってきました。初めはインターネットに接続していなかったので、ゲームをしたりするだけでした。ようやくインターネットに接続したのは6月になってからです。それから、インターネットが私の毎日の一番の楽しみになりました。

私は毎日メールが来ているかのぞいてしまいます。目が悪くなるとはわかっているのだけれど、いざとなってやり始めると、インターネットの世界からぬけ出せなくなってしまうのです。

ある日、こんなことがありました。メールをやっている仲良しの友達の二人が、外国からメールを送っていることがだいぶたってからわかり、おどろいてしまいました。一人はドイツ、もうひとりはアメリカからでした。

お父さんの仕事の関係で外国で暮らしているらしいのですが、メールのやりとりをしていると、（今、ドイツやアメリカの時間は何時なんだろうな。日本と生活がどのようにちがうのかな。）と思いうかべたり、ドイツやアメリカもすごく近くに感じられるのが不思議でなりません。ほかにも、北海道や大阪などに住んでいる人もいるので、一度でいいから会ってみたいなあと思います。

夏休みには、私は他の人のホームページを見るようになり、（私もあんな風にかわいい自分のHPを作ってみたいなあ。）と思うようになってきました。そうと決めたら、私はHP作りに一生けんめいになり、一日2時間以上平気でインターネットをやっていました。さすがにこれはお母さんにおこられ、「そんなにやっていたら目が悪くなるから、もうちょっと時間を短くしなさい！」と言われてしまいました。

私のHPの作り方は、「HPを作る」で検索して、HPの作り方ののっているHPを見ながらタグ（HPを作るための英字）をうっていきました。やっと、8月の半ばに仮オープンし、9月ごろにはちゃんと開くようになりました。

今では1000人ほどお客様が来てくださっていて、「私もHPを作ってみたいです。HPの作り方を教えて下さい。」というメールまでくるようになり、とてもうれしいです。

HPを持っている人たちは、みんな中学生高校生ばかりで、私と同じぐらいの年の人は少ないですが、色々な情報をしいれたり、楽しくてたまりません。HPを作るのはとっても大変だけれど、作ってよかったなと思います。

私はインターネットを通じて学校を休んでしまった時でも勉強ができるHPを作ってほしいと思います。そうしたら、登校拒否の子も、文字なら気軽にしゃべれるし、インターネットで友達もできるし、一石二鳥だと思います。

私の将来の夢はwebデザイナーです。インターネットが本当に好きなので、自分の得意なことを仕事にできたらいいなと思います。

これからもインターネットを通じ、たくさんの友達を作っていきたいです。

I am really into the internet right now. I think the internet is the best place to make friends all over the world through a computer.

I got my first iMac this January. At first, I didn't have the internet, so I just played games. I finally got connected in June. Since then, the internet has become my favorite part of every day.

I check my email every day. I know it's bad for my eyes, but once I start, I can't stop looking at the internet.

One day, something happened. It took me a while to realize, but I was so surprised to find out that two of my close friends were emailing me from other countries! One was in Germany, and the other was in America.

They live abroad because of their dad's job. When we email, I wonder what time it is there, like in Germany or the U.S., and how their life is different from mine in Japan. It feels so strange that those countries feel so close to me now. I have other friends living in places like Hokkaido and Osaka, too, so I really hope I can meet them someday.

During summer vacation, I started looking at other people's websites. I thought, "I want to make a cute website like that too!" Once I decided that, I worked really hard on making my website. I didn't even mind spending more than two hours a day on the internet. My mom got mad at me and said, "If you spend that much time, your eyes will get bad! You need to cut down your time!"

I learned how to make my website by searching "how to make a website". I followed a guide and typed in the HTML tags (which is the alphabet making the website). I finally launched a test version in mid-August, and it was fully up and running by September.

Now about 1,000 people visit my website. I even get emails from them saying, "I want to make a website too! Can you teach me how?" I am so happy about that.

Most people who have websites are middle or high school students. There aren't many people my age, but I get a lot of information and it's so much fun. Making a website is really hard work, but I'm glad I did it.

I want someone to make a website where kids can study even when they miss school. That way, kids who have a hard time going to school can talk easily through text, and they can make friends online too. It's like killing two birds with one stone!

My dream is to be a web designer. I really love the internet, so I hope I can make a job out of what I'm good at.
